TreasureLine Books & Publishing has been busy, busy, busy helping fill shelves one book at a time. Part of that has included the expansion of our Book Services to help additional authors recognize the dream of making their books available to readers.

The ladies over at Mormon Mommy Writers organized quite an anniversary celebration for the month of January. Summer Time, Summer Time, Sum Sum Summer Time ... Fuuuuun

Summer is upon us with kids, vacations, and all around busy-ness. It's the time for sitting in a beach chair, reading a great book while you listen to the tide crash in. (Okay, so that's what I'd LIKE to be doing, not what I get to do!). Anyway, it's also the time when TreasureLine takes a little break -- even though great books are still underway over at our parent TreasureLine Publishing.

As a little peek into what's coming:

Krisi Keley's On The Soul series is off to a great start with the re-release of On The Soul Of A Vampire getting an edit, reformatted interior, and a great new cover designed by the author! Her Pro Luce Habere (to have before the light), Book II in the On the Soul Series, is due for release late July/early August.

Teric Darken's Wickflicker will be released July 15th! It's a supernatural thriller that is sure to satisfy your spooky tooth craving (paraphrased from the author's own words). Jaimey Grant with An Author's Art really outdid herself on this cover as did Ellen C. Maze with the internal formatting.

Lori Boggs' highly anticipated suspense thriller, For The Helpless, will be out in a couple of weeks. As with all of these books, an official book party will be scheduled this fall.

Speaking of Fall... we have several books slated for Fall Releases:

Elizabeth Mueller's Darkspell - a YA Fantasy; T.E. MacArthur's Steampunk Fantasy, The Volcano Lady Vol. 1 - A Fearful Storm Gathering; Amanda Stephan's Lonely Hearts - Contemporary Christian Romance --- just to name a few. Paisley Swan Stewart also has BIG changes coming for her Chanson de l’Ange as she separates them into 4 separate volumes as a series, instead the 2 thick volumes as it currently stands. We're very excited about these books as well as the others we'll update you about as summer time permits.

It has been a busy few weeks behind the scenes over at TreasureLine Books & Publishing. Part of that busy includes the preparation of five upcoming releases the final two weeks of May. Jaimey Grant's Regency Romance,"Honor", leads the way, followed by Pete Turner's Christian Thriller, "Whisper A Scream". The highly anticipated "Damascus Road" by Ellen C. Maze marches out next with Lori Boggs' Crime Suspense debut novel, "For The Helpless", and K.F. Ridley's Middle Grade Adventure, "The Curse of Yama", finishing up our month. These are all great books rounding out the TreasureLine shelves with a little something for everyone.

In recent releases, Margaret Thomas was the randomly chosen winner of Meagan Frank's "Choosing To Grow: Through Marriage" book. Congratulations to you, Margaret. Patrick Sipperly's Christian Novel, "Parting Ways", was touted as a book you have to read. It's about courage and being true to yourself and to your convictions regardless of the consequences. We'd like to begin by welcoming Amanda Stephan and Elizabeth Mueller to the TreasureLine Shelves. We're excited to have two more amazing talents added to our publishing family. Click on either of their names to find out more about them and look for their upcoming releases in the near future.

As the Parade of Authors continues, the extremely talented and always beyond delightful Meagan Frank joins us. Her first book, Choosing To Grow: Through Marriage, will celebrate its official release with a Novel Launch Virtual Party on Tuesday, April 26, 2011; however, it is currently available on her website and Amazon.com. We might add that Choosing to Grow: Through Marriage is merely the first in a series of Choosing To Grow books to be brought to the shelf by this wonderful author. If you haven't figured it out yet, Meagan has been fantastic to work with and her book has been touted as "the best book I've read in a long time" by author Jaimey Grant (along with being a great author, Jaimey also reviews books, designs covers, helps TreasureLine with editing and formatting -- she reads A LOT!). When I was a young girl, I remember catching a glimpse of myself in a mirror. I was in my father’s office and I stopped to consider the seven-year-old eyes that looked back at me. The image is crystal clear in my memory: vibrant, blue, Irish eyes, a freckle-pocked nose and brown bangs that laid straight and flat across my forehead. (the only part of my Dorothy Hamill haircut I could see in the mirror)

Why do I introduce you to the seven-year-old version of myself? Well, that seven-year-old knew quite well what I was meant to do with my life. She knew I should write. She knew there were things bigger than me that were meant to happen, and she knew the words would find their way no matter what I tried to do to sabotage it. It has taken over twenty-five years to get back to the vision of that seven-year-old, and I could not be more grateful about my journey.

I don’t look at myself so much in the mirror any more. Not because I don’t want to, just because I hardly have contemplative time. Now it is the reflection of myself in words that dominates my introspection.

Writing about my life can be found a number of places. I am a mother to three active and awe-inspiring children (sprouts), one energetic and entertaining dog (seed) and I am married to a man I affectionately call my (thornbush). For eight years I have worked to reintegrate the words back in to my life and they have started to accumulate.

The biggest compilation can be found in my newly released book from TreasureLine Books, Choosing to Grow: Through Marriage . It is my first book, but more importantly a transformative conversation. I interviewed over 70 women and collected 175 questionnaires about what it is to navigate modern marriage…it only took me eight years to write my way through it.

Both my husband and I are Colorado College graduates. I was an English major with a minor in Education and after graduation, I taught high school English for three years in Colorado Springs. Leading up to the book, and within the last ten years, I worked as a reporter at the Dunn County News in Menomonie, WI, I published a number of other freelance newspaper and magazine articles, and I spent five years as a soccer coach for the women’s college team at UW-Stout.

I am thrilled to be working with TreasureLine Books and excited about all that going public will mean. The conversation about marriage can continue, and I can keep working on the reflection that shows my most authentic self.

As the parade continues, we'd like to not only welcome Andrew E. Kaufman but to congratulate him as well. His award-winning, bestselling novel is currently topping SIX of Amazon's Top-Rated lists. Introducing S.B.Niccum and "Veiled" ~ A Captivating Combination

Niccum but to present her debut novel as well. “Veiled” is a Young Adult Supernatural Fantasy sure to be enjoyed by readers well beyond the YA years and, having worked with Silvina over the past months, I can tell you she is a delightful, uplifting young woman who has captured an intriguing idea mingled with enjoyable characters and storyline in “Veiled”. I was born in Rosario, Argentina and raised in Buenos Aires. My family immigrated to the US, when I was fourteen. At the time I didn’t speak English, but my need to socialize quickly took care of my language barrier. It took me two years before I could honestly say I understood what people were saying to me, and before I could get my homework done without a dictionary.

I later attended the University of Utah where I studied Spanish Literature—as a way of getting in touch with my Latina roots. Choosing a major was hard for me, because I have a lot of interests, writing being only one of them. Theology, cooking, and outdoor recreational activities are but a few of my many passions. The book pile on my kitchen counter is a testament to my many hobbies and past times. On that pile you will find books on homeschooling, cooking, world religions, Old Testament study guides, popular Y.A’s, several classics and many books from other Treasureline authors.

My debut novel “Veiled” is a Young Adult, Christian Speculative Fantasy, born out of my overactive imagination and my interest in biblical themes. It’s about the eternal nature of the soul and all those unexplainable phenomena that give us chills and hope at the same time. In it, the main character (Tess) and her clan members fight the combined forces of evil and become Secret Service Angels. They deal with the hardest and coolest Earth missions. They are trained by twelve feet tall Cherubs with feathered wings, and golden half-human half-lion Seraphs. They can handle just about everything—except perhaps the Veil. Once they cross the Veil and into mortality they will forget all about Heaven, each other, and their soul mates.

What a pleasure it is for me to lead the parade of TreasureLine Books & Publishing authors. Beyond great writers, the group that has come together under the TreasureLine umbrella is made up of an awesome bunch of people. We work together as a family and the care and consideration I see between every individual involved is amazing. It makes me proud to be a part of the group.

Who am I? Good question! I'm Linda Boulanger, the owner of TreasureLine Books & Publishing. I also occasionally remove my publisher’s hat to sit in the author’s seat. A mother of four children and four pets, juggling a daily-growing group of authors … it’s not always easy to find the time to write ~ I do, everyday. Very soon, that perseverance will pay off with the release of two full-length novels ("A Marriage of Necessity" and "When Love Whispers") to add to my other works: two short story collections, full-color children’s book, and my current baby, a novella titled “Arms of an Angel”.

I call myself a happy ever after author. I write stories that will touch the heart and make my readers fall in love with the characters. As a self-proclaimed hopeless romantic, I love love and I love the aaaah factor, and that’s what I want my readers to experience… Sounds like a commercial for warm fuzzies!

I like to stretch people's morality because the world is not so black and white, or good and bad.

I highly recommend you take a walk with gifted author Charlie Courtland into the world of Lady Amara and Countess Elizabeth Bathory in The Hidden Will of the Dragon. Never Give Up On Your Dreams...

I (written by Linda) had the privilege of spending a day not so long ago with one of our authors. His name is Richard S.Wiggins, Jr. and he is an extremely talented author. You might even say that Rick spurred my love of writing as his dream of being a published author caused a little dream of its own to begin to form in my head. You see, Rick is the first person I ever personally knew who actually completed a manuscript. We were so proud of him – an author in our family! Yes, Rick just so happens to be my brother-in-law.

Those manuscripts, along with an unfinished one, found themselves concealed inside a drawer for many, many years…around 30, to be exact! When I slipped into the business of publishing, one of the first things I asked: Where are Rick’s books? I knew his writings. I knew they would be good books though I had never read them. I’d read enough of what he’d written in the past to know I WANTED THOSE BOOKS on our shelf.

But Rick wasn’t interested in giving them to me. He had put down his pen, stopped believing in his writing, so it seemed. His heart was no longer telling him what he had written was good and that there were people out there who would love to read what his mind had created. That didn’t matter. I BELIEVED!

I’d like to share what Rick wrote as a dedication in one of his PUBLISHED books. Know that I am very honored: This book is dedicated to my sister-in-law, Linda Boulanger. She has kept the writing spark burning in me even as I have attempted to snuff it out over the years. More importantly, she is a rock of faith my family has clung to during many crises we have faced. She has mentored and nurtured my faith, guiding me to a power and happiness I didn't know was possible. She is now doing the same with my writing. I am very excited.

True to Rick Form (he's very focused), amidst the insanity of a convergence of visiting family, Rick and I discussed the cover for his upcoming release: Kilaal’s Sword (the cover you may see floating around is only a “temporary” cover). He finished writing the book last week. As soon as it goes through editing and formatting…it will be released. I’m very excited! So are those who have read his other two books. They’re waiting…impatiently.

I also “allowed” him to format his own books for eBook uploading :) with a little guidance and a bit of post-formatting editing, of course. This got them to the ePub market a bit faster. He did a great job!

If you get a chance, pick up one of Rick’s books, in either hold-in-your-hand format or as an eBook. Whether you enjoy the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Genre or not (that was me – I’ve converted), you’re sure to enjoy these books.

A Survivor With Memories Makes Us Proud

Friday, June 25, 2010 -- one of our authors will be making the walk of a lifetime. Perhaps I should say a walk in celebration of life -- her life. You see, our local Relay For Life will be hosting its annual fund raising event this Friday. They will begin the walk-a-thon with a “victory lap” by survivors -- and Jackie Bullen, author of the Memories Outloud poetry collection is a survivor. Beyond a courageous fight and unwavering faith, Jackie remained an inspiration to those around her; offering support for her supporters with the awesome realization that they “go through” in their own way as well.

Jackie has always had a zest for life; finding enjoyment in the little things as well as the spectacular. Even before her battle with cancer, she knew life was precious and set out to live it to its fullest. Still, there were things she wanted to do that she simply hadn’t gotten around to doing. One of those things was to have her poetry published. She did that this year with the release of her poetry book, Memories Outloud. The book is filled with verbal snapshots of her life, written in a way that they could belong to anyone. They are fantastic reminders that will take you back. TreasureLine Publishing is extremely pleased to have had a part in bringing this book to hold-in-your-hand form and we are so very, very proud to have Jackie among the authors with books on our shelf.

What's Bubbling

There's a lot of excitement behind the scenes at TreasureLine Books & Publishing. You might say we're bubbling with books. Last month we released Sharon E. Cathcart's "In The Eye of The Beholder~A Novel of the Phantom of the Opera" -- a must have not only for Phantom fans but also for anyone who enjoys a truly satisfying love story.

Three more books were released this month including Lori Osterman's "Here All Along~ Looking for love everywhere, finally finding it was within me all along"; an inspirational story of one woman's fight for freedom, her desire to protect her children and finding the strength to believe in herself. No one should ever be abused by someone who says "I love you."

We released two Sci-Fi/Fantasy Novels from author Richard S. Wi ggins, Jr. The Last Warrior of Ertansha (one of my all time favorite books - I fell in love with the story/characters) and The Making of a Masterthief. In The Last Warrior of Ertansha, a freak storm appears out of nowhere and drives a group of so-called friends into a cave that was not previously there. Transported to a completely different world, the business of the day isn't Wall Street or high finance but staying alive. It's exciting and even a bit romantic :) The Making of a Masterthief deals with a world where men are almost universally hated by the other races. The apprentice thief Lontel must use his strength and knowledge as he and the elf maiden Davlena make their way through a world where the inhabitants would just as soon kill you as not. Come to think of it, this book is exciting and even a bit romantic too. You'll love the characters, story, and movement in both of these books.

We're completely excited about the release of Jaimey Grant's "Deception" in July. July 15, 2010 to be exact. I'm currently finishing the edits on the book and...I'm in love. I want to go back to the regency period and walk with these characters in this world that Jaimey Grant has painted for me with her words!

Interview with Stuart McCallum Author of 'Beyond My Control'

Please tell us a little about yourself:

I am an exceptionally fortunate guy, for twenty-years I lived with the constant fear and uncertainty of a seizure wickedly striking anywhere, at any time. I was offered brain surgery, which would hopefully; reduce my seizures or best case scenario become seizure free. I am now free from seizures, happily married to Lisa, with two wonderful teenage children, Lucy and Jordan, living in Melbourne, Australia. I am a qualified freelance journalist and in my spare time busy writing my next book!

Why did you decide to write your story?

I began compiling material for Beyond my Control when my condition, epilepsy, suddenly (without any warning) began to deteriorate. At the time I was operating my stained glass business and managing staff while battling an ever-increasing number of seizures. At times, the aftermath (postictal state) of these seizures was both deeply disturbing, and frightening experiences. I would enter (postictal psychosis) and lose touch with reality immediately after the seizure passed. I was often prone to violent outbursts that threatened my safety as well the safety of people in my inner circle. Many times I found the social complications with epilepsy harder to live with than the condition itself. This is when I realized that – one day – I would write a book that would clear the many myths and misunderstandings, which have enveloped epilepsy for centuries.

As a memoirist I have placed my life out in the open for the entire world to view. I was deeply afraid that people would judge me harshly on the many horrendous situations that I describe in fine detail, which was totally beyond my control. I felt like a walking time bomb never knowing where or when I would explode. Hence the apt title for my book.

What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome to write/publish your story?

My life had been an emotional roller coaster. The opportunity to write Beyond my Control presented itself while at home recovering from brain surgery. However, one of the (many) side-effects I endured were depression. My emotional state plummeted as I began to descend into a nightmare; depression had a vice like grip on me squeezing tighter and tighter. As a man, overpowering feelings of guilt ran through every artery in my body, ferociously tugging at my heart strings. As my thoughts were of a highly self-critical nature, I felt a deep sense of anguish attack my entire being. This was by far the hardest division of my book to write. Thankfully, with medical help I survived that period and wrote Beyond my Control.

Interview with Patricia Hawkenson Author of 'Magnetic Repulsion'

Patricia A. Hawkenson shares the experiences of powerful attractions that keep dragging couples together and then yanking them apart. From that first dance, where toes tangle languidly, and shoulders create a soft place to fall, through dating and suspicion, arguments and slamming the door, this collection covers it all while uncovering just enough to please and tease.

Tell us about yourself:
I am a National Board Certified teacher, teaching middle school Language and Social Studies, along with coaching our school's Technology Team. I received the "Outstanding Educator" and "Innovation in Education" awards for my desire to see my students succeed. My family would describe me as a 'work-a-holic.'

I have also been described as a "renaissance woman" because my art takes many forms. I write poetry, create stained glass kaleidoscopes and jewelry boxes, sew tapestry handbags, crochet lace doilies, cut intricate snowflakes, draw and paint.

My daughter, Trillium (21) and stepdaughter Laura (22) have moved on, but left their three cats, Tabby, Butterfly and Catapillar, in the home I share with my husband, Keith. On occasion, we baby-sit Trillium's Pomeranian, Saffy. As a family, we enjoy eating out, camping, and watching movies.

Why did you decide to write your poetry?
My poetry came as a way to help myself heal after my first marriage ended. I needed to find a way to love, learn, and then let go. There are people in my life who find it difficult to follow my online writing. I wanted to give them the 'book in hand' opportunity to read my poetry. Like many authors, I wanted to feel that book in my hands, as well; it just feels more permanent.

Tell us a little about the process it took to get it published:

Poetry is a very difficult market niche to find a traditional publisher. Magnetic Repulsion was published by Outskirts Press. They are a 'Print on Demand' publishing company. I found their step-by-step process very easy to follow. They have a great support system to coach new authors through the entire self- publishing process. I had the opportunity to make my own decisions every step of the way. They have a personal marketing coach that also assists authors with many avenues for marketing the book after printing.

What was the biggest emotional obstacle you had to overcome to write/publish your story?

Writing poetry is by nature personal. The difficult part for me was in sharing emotions and retelling events that happened with other people. In telling my story, I tell the story of other people who are close to me. It was necessary to write in a way that did not reveal who they are, or share too much of their pain in such a public way. Sometimes I asked their permission to write about our experiences; sometimes I changed a few details so that others would not see them in the writing. You could say Magnetic Repulsion is the retelling of the personal challenges with emotional obstacles I found in my relationships.

A wonderful book of poetry for all.
